Retired civil engineer Janina (Agnieszka Mandat-Grabka) lives a secluded life in a mountain village close to the border between Poland and the Czech Republic. She is charismatic and eccentric, a passionate astrologer and a strict vegetarian. One day her beloved dogs disappear…

After her foray into the realm of serialised drama, Agnieszka Holland returns to the big screen with a subversive thriller.

Poland has submitted the film as a candidate for foreign language film Oscar.

Agnieszka Holland

(b. 1948, Warsaw) went to Czechoslovakia to study film directing at FAMU in Prague. She began her film career working in Poland with Krzysztof Zanussi as assistant director, and Andrzej Wajda as her mentor. She wrote several scripts with Wajda before directing her own films like „Europa Europa“ (1990, Oscar nomination in 1992), „Julie Walking Home“ (2002), „In Darkness“ (2012), which were winning awards at many festivals. Last eight years Agneszka has made films with her daughter Kasia Adamik, who is also film director. „Spoor“ is Holland’s 16. full-length feature for cinema.
