On the runway: Fashion Cinema

Black Nights Film Festival is here and so is Fashion Cinema, the annual programme dedicated to the best fashion documentaries of the year. Adding some much-needed spark to these dark November nights, the Fashion Cinema programme will take you on a wonderful journey through the glamorous '70s, '80s, and '90s and introduce the lives, careers, and doings of the biggest icons of the fashion industry.

Joining us on this trip with an international premiere is "King Cnut", a documentary which tells us the story of an extraordinary and hilarious battle between a British comedian and the fashion industry giant French Connection. Introducing the ever so glamorous '70s disco era is "Antonio Lopez 1970: Sex Fashion & Disco", a feature documentary-based time capsule that follows the outrageous life of the famous fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez.

"The Gospel According to André" gives us a close-up of André Leon Talley, who's best known for his long career at Vogue and who has become the high fashion world's first major African-American tastemaker. Kevyn Aucoin, a self-made celebrity makeup artist turned into an industry god, and his world famous clients take us back to the '90s in "Kevyn Aucoin: Beauty & the Beast in Me", while "Bangaologia - The Science of Style" explores the unique and colorful world of Angolan fashion.

And then there's Grace Jones, one of greatest style icons and music's biggest stars, who gives us a look into her personal life and iconic performances in "Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami".
